William Thomas Peddicord
Pop Pop
I remember you snitching on me
When I was chasing the chickens for play
Then Grand Mom would tell me to stop
You'd keep watching me anyway.
I never remembered when you could walk
You were already stuck in bed
Gangrene already had you then
I can still here your voice in my head.
I know you were lonely too
Guess that's why you'd talk to me
Not many adults ever bothered
Guess they wished they didn't see.
You were never mean to me
That came as a surprise
You would talk as if you cared
That still brings a tear to my eyes.
I was so young when you went away
Still, I'm glad I got to remember you
Those memories are with me still
In all I say and do.
Oh, the time I was there with you
Grand Mom and your wife
These are the most precious memories
Of my childhood I have in my life.
