My First Born

My first born this is to you

A mother's love runs deep

I've tried to create memories

Good ones for you to keep.

the zoos we made when you were small

The silly songs I'd sing

The endless books to you I've read

The way your laughter would sing.

The skates I bought when you were three

Daily I took you outside

Oh, the neigbors were surprised to see

A child so small learning to ride.

The time I dyed the vegetables

With food color for you

You children ate your vegetables

Though your father didn't like his corn blue.

I did my best to give you

All the love in my life I'd missed

Every night I'd hear your prayers

When I tucked you in you'd be kissed.

Now you're a man and a father

Your daughter's a beauty true

I hope and pray she brings you joy

And always says; "Daddy, I love you."
