Memories

Memories are with me

No matter where I go

Sometimes I let them linger

Then I live them through.

Other times I push them

Yesterday is gone

I try to live for now

Because the past is done.

Happy memories I let stay

Those are great to visit

So I let my mind just stray

As I relax and sit.

The places are far away

The sights are not around me

Still at times I see them clear

When I let them be.

People I've loved that are gone

I can recall when I try

I don't do it too often

I miss them and I cry.

So memories have their place

In the doors of my mind's store

Sometimes I'll open one

Then it's yesterday once more.
