GrandMa's Lessons

GrandMa I can't forget

Life's lessons from you are with me yet

Going down the hill for water from the well

Taught me rains importance; here I tell.

You taught me history with personal stories

Never know you were giving me glories

You made many beautiful things

Full of religion and angel wings.

Bible stories and saints lives you'd relate

No make believe there you'd create

Your poetry made me cry with emotion

My imagination was set adrift in this ocean.

Dirt roads and vegetables growing

Enjoying the breezes blowing

Walking daily in the woods alone

Ever silent, watchful, acting like stone.

Learned about animals and birds

Learned appreciation and a hunger for God's word

Washing clothes on a washboard after every rain

Water was a precious blessing as you'd explain.

You prepared me spiritually for my life's road

You gave me serene tranquility to bear my load

My summer's with you were magic to me

You live on still in my memory.
